This highpoint was a spur-of-the-moment expedition. It finally hit me about three days before Memorial Day that I had an extra long weekend off from work fast approaching with no plans yet made. So the weekend became a workout for the 29-mile Utah trek later in the summer. After easily finding and summiting this highpoint, I dropped south a few miles into the Ouachita National Forest and embarked on a wonderful 22-mile backpacking expedition.

Following a very underutilized trail highlighted the value of having a topographic map and compass, and the varied terrain revealed the need for thicker socks and blister Band-Aids for my feet.
